I'm not sure exactly why you're asking, but it's not that important. I'm not sure what utility there is in inserting a new measure(s) in only one staff, but I don't think there is any way to do that. Also, of course either of these methods adds the new measures to all of the staves in the system. SSX is a bit awkward shuffling barlines and measures around, and it can get a bit frustrating at times when measures appear or disappear as they jump between systems and pages as it tries to adapt to changes in the score. In the first case you can always delete a barline or two and nudge things around if a whole new system is too many. BUT, and depending on how many measures are involved, I'll usually add a new system Edit->System->Insert Above/Below, or just nudge the barlines to make some space and insert a new barline using the barlines tool. In terms of simply inserting empty measures, I'm not certain but I don't think that's possible. Because of the difficulty in actually selecting some regions, it is often easier to switch to "long view" (View->View Mode->Long View) with gives you a linear view of the score rather than the typical page view. In theory, I think you can copy/cut and paste any size chunk you want. But I suspect that you're probably more interested in the "insert new measures" method. This last option can be a bit dangerous because it replaces as many measures as you've copied/cut. You will now be presented with a "Paste Options Dialog offering three basic options to merge the copied data with the existing contents (same as Paste), to insert new measures (before or after the clicked barline) with the new content, or replace the current contents with the copied data (same as Paste Replace). After initiating the Paste command, click on the opening barline of the target measure. When dealing with entire measures, there's an even more flexible approach. There is another menu item (Edit->Paste Replace )which as its name implies replaces the current contents with the copied material. As you've probably seen, if you then hit Paste (or Ctl-V) and click somewhere, the selection is merged with the currrent contents at that location. This can be a few notes, an entire measure or group of measures on one or more staves of a system. As you've probably already determined, you "select" what you want to copy or paste using the select tool. There are a couple of ways in which Cut/Paste work. But then I have some empty measures at the end. And I could delete some measures by deleting the contents, cutting what is after it and then reinserting it. I see a way to insert measures using the paste function with adding measures and then deleting the contents. Share Link to this post Send Email to ByronD Send PM to ByronD Blog I understand how to select and cut and paste a group of objects (to use the terminology in the manual) but how do I select and delete or cut and paste a group of measures, not just the contents of the measures? While I am asking, how do I insert or append some empty measures? Many thanks. I did some searching and couldn't find it. Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.
